The Department of Genetics organized  Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights for the I/II/III year Life science students and Faculty.(Around 250 students,50 Lecturers)  Mrs.Sujatha Uram,Lecturer in Genetics was the speaker. She spoke on the topic “Overview of Intellectual Property Rights” on 8 th May 2017. The Objective of the workshop was to give a general introduction to the concept of Intellectual Property Rights and their role in Technology Transfer. Mrs.Sujatha Uram explained about the Rationale of Protection,Different kinds of IPRs,IPRs and Licensing/Technology Agreements.The future of IPR in India.

Department of Genetics along with the Department of Lifesciences organized career guidance for life science for the I/II/III year Life science students on 3 rd Aug 2017 by Dr. Ira Bhatnagar scientist from CCMB- Dr.Ira enlightened the students on the opportunities in various fields of Lifescience, future of  research in India. The students were motivated towards, role of biology in developing modern drugs.She spoke on the topic “Lifescience arena – Journey to a wonderland”.

June 23 rd 2017:Young Researchers Meet Department of Genetics along with the Department of Lifesciences organized Young Researchers Meet for the I/II/III year Life science students on 23 rd June 2017. Dr.M.Adharvana Chary,Researcher and Managing Director of Dr. MACS Biopharma Pvt. Ltd. was invited as a speaker. He spoke on the topic “Drug Discovery and Development-Synthesis of some novel compounds and screening for anticancer”. Cancer research, medicines and their side effects were discussed. Cancer Therapy by using novel biological compounds was analysed. Dr.M.A.Chary enlightened the students on the antibiotics, drugs, generic medicine. The future of drug research in India. The students were motivated towards Chemistry, role of biology in developing Pharmaceuticals. Feedback was taken from students, the response was extra ordinary.        ts gave their reflections about the programme. Feedback was taken from parents,the response was excellent.

June 21 st 2017:I-Year Orientation Programme Department of Genetics along with the Department of Life sciences organized Orientation Programme   for the first year students on 21 st June 2017. The Vision, Mission and Motto of the college was addressed to the students and parents. Rev. Sr.Japamala, Correspondent explained about the history and establishment of St.Pious X Degree & PG College,about our management, our patron saint St.Pious X. Rev.Sr.Velangini explained about the college code of conduct,importance of attendance,college timings.Extra curricular activities like sports, games, cultural festivals,NCC & NSS apart from academics were presented in the form of a power point presentation. The H.O.D’s of the respective stream were introduced to the audience along with I year class incharge.Students and parents gave their reflections about the programme. Feedback was taken from parents,the response was excellent.
